I am an organizer. I love to plan things, schedule them out, make a list, keep a planner, and I've written in a journal for as long as I can remember (which took the form of a blog when I got married and blogs were the new thing). My parents made, used and sold their own "Aunt Julie's Kid Planners" back in the 80's. (I grew up in a family with 11 kids. They NEEDED planners.)

Needless to say, I have always felt the need to have "family planning" with my own little family. It has evolved over the past few years. We started with these cute clearance clipboards I bought because they were black and white stripes (I'm obsessed) and had a big pink heart on each one. When the kids were really little (maybe age 2 and 4? maybe even earlier) we started having our weekly "planning" by going through the upcoming calendar, and helping each child set a goal for the week. Their favorite part was at the end when each person took a turn holding up their "heart" and everyone (including themselves) gave them a compliment or told them one thing they love about them. (We still do this, and they still love it. They REQUEST it!)

I love a good printable, so I created a little weekly form for the kids while I used my planner. After about a year of various versions of this printable, Evan (age 6 at the time) finally asked if he could have a book like mine. Music to this list making, journal writing, planner buying mommy's ears! And so, I created my very first "kid planner".
